230 Million Bottles
Plastic bottles are everywhere, and making them requires a lot of raw material. So it’s exciting to see some of America’s largest corporations taking the lead in responsible packaging.
Procter & Gamble, a leader in consumer household products, has committed to producing 230 million bottles for their products with up to 50% Post Consumer Recycled (PCR) materials.
What does 230 million bottles look like? According to P&G, those bottles lined up end to end would reach from the North Pole to the South Pole.
What does the change mean to the environment? The shift to just 50% PCR in select products will increase P&G’s use of PCR by 3.8 kilotons. That means a LOT less non-recycled material is needed up front.
The company’s ultimate vision is to use 100% renewable or recycled material in its packaging.
